Dr. Jenni Kleinman Berebitsky

Dr. Jenni Kleinman Berebitsky
Dr. Jenni Kleinman Berebitsky was a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She received her BA in psychology and art therapy from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1998. In 2001, she studied Social Theory at Melbourne University in Melbourne, Australia, and then went on to receive a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 2007. In 2009, Jenni was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and given 18 to 24 months to live. Jenni far surpassed her prognosis and LIVED every day of her life to the fullest, in spite of having ALS for 10 ½ years. She left a legacy of an amazing spirit with everyone she touched. She will live on through her book, ALS Saved My Life…until it didn’t, which she wrote with her mother, Joyce Kleinman, and the award-winning documentary about her, Grateful: The Jenni Berebitsky Story.

Joyce Kleinman, Jenni’s mom, now sees her purpose as one to carryon Jenni’s mission to help others move forward after life-changing events. Jenni discovered that courage does not always roar, instead it reveals itself through a combination of self-reflection, radical acceptance, grit, and social support that had allowed her to remain true to herself while living her life to the fullest. Jenni continued to look to the future with excitement and anticipation of new adventures, even when it was clear that her own death was imminent. Joyce and Indiana Conference for Women Advisory Panel member, Amy Pauszek will be leading the breakout session on Jenni’s behalf.
