Joe Hogsett

Mayor, City of Indianapolis

Biography

Born in Rushville, Indiana, Mayor Joe Hogsett has lived and worked in Indianapolis now for more than thirty five years. Joe served six years as Indiana’s Secretary of State and four as United States Attorney, cracking down on gun crimes and street gangs while breaking all-time records for the number of criminal convictions and the length of sentences.

On November 3, 2015, Joe was elected to serve as the 49th Mayor for the City of Indianapolis. As Mayor, Joe Hogsett is using the same results-oriented approach that he cultivated in his time as federal prosecutor to focus on public safety, neighborhoods and the fiscal well-being of the city. In his first year in office, Mayor Hogsett has lifted the city’s 35-year moratorium on new streetlights, returned IMPD to a community-based policing model and created Indianapolis’ first comprehensive youth summer employment plan — all while cutting overall city spending and building a bipartisan coalition, dedicated to moving Indianapolis forward.
