Dawn R. Rosemond is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Fort Wayne, Indiana, office and serves as the firmwide Director of Diversity, Professional Development and Inclusion. She is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and also serves on the Pro Bono Committee.
In her role as Director of Diversity, Professional Development and Inclusion, Ms. Rosemond spearheads the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives through deliberate programming and strategic priorities and leads the charge for cultivating and maintaining an environment that boldly promotes the training, sponsorship, empowerment and promotion of all of the firm’s legal talent regardless of background. She also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Ms. Rosemond has been with Barnes & Thornburg throughout her entire legal career having represented business clients at virtually all stages of the litigation process, including pre-litigation counseling, ADR (mediation, arbitration, etc.), trial and appeal. She has litigated before various tribunals including federal and state courts and administrative agencies, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal Circuit.
Ms. Rosemond has litigated a wide array of cases. She began her litigation career with a focus on federal and state employment litigation, but for more than a decade now has focused her practice on representing, counseling and protecting her clients (from entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 entities) in business and commercial litigation matters involving compliance issues, restrictive covenant enforcement, trade secret protections and management, intellectual property protection and policing, and vendor and contractual disputes. She also has broad experience litigating work-out matters for banking institutions and special servicers, and has regularly defended her business clients in matters involving the protection of their brand and intellectual property (including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade dress). Further, Ms. Rosemond also manages an extensive portfolio of worker’s compensation defense litigation throughout Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
A published author (Boss Presence), national speaker on leadership and personal development, and deliberate mentor, Ms. Rosemond is also an Indiana Torchbearer Award recipient, was named as one of the most influential African-Americans in Northeast Indiana by INK Magazine, has been listed in Indiana Super Lawyers, and was named as one of the “Top Attorneys – Business Litigation (Indiana)” in the Corporate Counsel Edition of Super Lawyers. She is also the 2015-16 recipient of the ACBA Niemann Citation for Excellence and Professionalism, which is presented to attorneys who demonstrate “distinguished legal work, professionalism, public service and leadership.”
Ms. Rosemond graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. She was awarded her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law-Champaign in 1996. She is a member of the Allen County and National Bar Associations. She also currently serves on the boards of Visit Fort Wayne, the Downtown Development Trust, and Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. Further, since 1991, Ms. Rosemond has been a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
