Carolyn Valentine is a global marketing executive with more than 15 years of marketing and general management experience across consumer and healthcare industries. Most recently she was Vice President, Enterprise Customers in the Medical Devices organization with Johnson & Johnson. In this role, she was responsible for delivering “One J&J” collaborative planning, customer management and innovative solutions and services with hospital systems. Prior, she served as the Global Marketing Director for the Global Franchise Organization – Pain Care for the Consumer Healthcare division of Johnson & Johnson and served on the leadership team. In her role leading the Motrin®/Dolormin®/Ipren® and Bengay® brands, she was responsible for driving global strategy, brand equity/IMC, innovation pipeline development, and geographic expansion. Carolyn also served as the Senior Director for Global Strategic Marketing within the Nutritionals division. In this position, she was responsible for driving and charting untapped strategic opportunities for new channels and business models, driving and validating cross-sector opportunities, and collaborating with business development to accelerate the identification and validation of “white space” innovation opportunities.
Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Carolyn was Area Senior Director for Commercial & Business Development for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Pakistan (EMEA) within the International Nutrition Division of Abbott Laboratories. In this role, she served as a member of the EMEA Commercial Leadership Team, responsible for new product development and execution, lifecycle management, and developing partnerships across the international nutrition portfolio. While at Abbott, she also served as the General Manager for the Performance Nutrition portfolio in EMEA, and as Commercial Director for Europe and Canada. In these roles, inclusive of P&L responsibilities, she focused on driving growth strategies across the nutrition portfolio and served on the leadership team for EMEA. Previously she worked in brand management line roles of increasing responsibility with Kraft foods and ConAgra Foods.
Carolyn serves as a member of the Dean’s Council for the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. She is also the Co-Chair of the Global Group for the National Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Association and a German Marshall Fellow.
Carolyn earned her BA in French Studies & Communications from the University of Cincinnati where she was a Darwin T. Turner scholar. As a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow, she earned her MBA degree in Marketing, General Management & International Business from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Carolyn lives in Chicago, IL with her husband of 13 years, Christopher.
